Petchie Goes Continental

The 23rd & 25th of June see’s the SGP Motorsport team take a short trip across the water to Belgium, where Stephen Petch & Michael Wilkinson will take part in the 42nd Ypres Westhoek Rally.

The two day tarmac event will provide the team an opportunity to iron out any teething problems, as well as giving Stephen invaluable practice time in his new Evo 9.

Stephen, who just recently took 2nd in the Evo Cup at Severn Valley, is looking forward to the experience, as well as testing his skills against the continental drivers.

“With the Jim Clark Rally coming up soon, it’s important for me to stay active and get more time in the car. There’s a lot of good drivers competing in Belgium and so hopefully i can put in some decent times.”

And Stephen will be in good company as former Peugeot and Hyundai works WRC driver, Freddy Loix will be competing, having concluded a partnership with Citroen Sport to use a Citroen C2 S1600.

The 4 times winner will be looking to add a fifth win to his name and says: “I am so pleased to be taking part in what I tend to think of as ‘my’ rally.”

The Belgian, who last competed in the WRC in 2004 added: “Above all, I would like to thank Citroen Sport, the organisers and all the partners who permitted the necessary technical and financial resources to come together for this to happen.”
